Charles "Chuck" Lansdale Wing, Sr.

Charles "Chuck" Lansdale Wing, Sr., of Gulf Breeze, went to heaven on Saturday, January 22, 2000 after a long illness.

Chuck was the seventh of nine children of Ruby Merck and William T. Wing, Sr. Chuck and Sue were married for many years and have four children, Chuck Jr. (Nancy) of Milton, Lance (Susie) of Franklin, Tenn., Robby (Sabra) of Gulf Breeze and Cindy Sclease (Joseph) of Pensacola; grandchildren, Vickie, Cristalle, Melody, Dillon, Sabra, Suzanne, Shannon, Sonthe, Savannah, Riannon, Cameron, Crimsyn, Jeremy and Clint; three brothers, Bill Jr., Ferris, and Harry; and many other relatives.

Chuck was born in Appalachicola, grew up in Jacksonville, then moved to Pensacola, attending PHS his senior year. He played football for Perkinston Jr. College when they were National Jr. College Champs, then for Memphis State. He was a veteran having served in the Merchant Marines and Air Force during WWII and the Korean War. He was a fine athlete and sportsman and excelled in many sports. He was a clever person who did many things well. For the last 24 years he was interested in antiques and became very knowledgeable about old bottles.

Chuck found a wonderful church home at Navarre United Methodist Church. Although we will miss him so much, we are rejoicing that he is no longer suffering and is with the Lord. Praise Him!!

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Home. Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Lewis Funeral Home, 7794 Navarre Pkwy, Navarre, FL, 32566, is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Navarre UMC Building Fund or the Alzheimers Association.
