Dorothy Wing Weis Swofford

Dorothy Wing Weis Swofford, 86, of Pensacola, died Monday, May 18, 1998, in a Pensacola hospital. Mrs. Swofford was born in Apalachicola, Fla., and spent her high school years in Panama City with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Harry G. Fannin.

Following her marriage to Mahlon Weis, Mrs. Swofford moved to Pensacola, Fla. She was preceded in death by Mahlon Weis, Jim Swofford, daughter, Evelyn Scott and grandson, Robin. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. C.A. Weis and Frances P. Weis; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Ann Land and H. Culver Land and Dorothy McCoy and J.W. McCoy; sister, Barbara W. Nelson of Panama City; four brothers, the Rev. William T. Wing Jr., Charles Wing, Ferris S. Wing, and Harry F. Wing, 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. Funeral services were held in Pensacola, Fla., on Thursday, May 21, 1998 at the Harper Morris Funeral Home.

Dorothy Weis Swofford, 86, of Pensacola, died Monday, May 18, 1998 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Swofford was born in Apalachicola, Fla., and then moved to Pensacola upon her marriage to Mahlon Weis. She was a member of Northminister Presbyterian Church and had been a charter member of the Junior League of Pensacola, was a member of the Christian Women's Club of Pensacola and was active in Gardening and Art circles.

She was preceded in death by Mahlon Weis and Jim Swofford, daughter, Evelyn Scott and grandson, Robin.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. C.A. (Bert) Weis and Frances P. (Misty) Weis; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Ann Land and H. Culver Land and Dorothy McCoy and J.W. McCoy; sister, Bobby Nelson, four brothers, the Rev. William T. Wing, Jr., Charles Wing, Ferris S. Wing, and Harry F. Wing; fifteen grand-children, twenty-five great-grandchildren; and a great-grand child.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Harper-Morris Chapel with the Rev. Richard C. Wiggers and the Rev. C.A. (Bert) Weis officiating.

Burial will be in Bayview Memorial Park.
