Mr. H.M. Appleby Gone The death of Mr. Hugh M. Appleby, which occurred at his home in Pendergrass Monday morning, cast a pall of grief over his hometown and Jackson county, for he was a man whom everybody that knew him deeply respected and loved. For a long number of years he was clerk of the Baptist church at Pendergrass and was a most useful member - a neighbor who was ever ready to aid in time of sickness or distress of any kind. Young and old loved this man wherever he was known. His former pastor, Rev. C.T. Brown of this city, conducted the funeral service Tuesday. Mr. Appleby lived here for a short while several years ago and has numerous friends who are deeply saddened to learn of his death. He
is survived by his wife, one son, Ted, and two daughters, Mrs. D.I. Gaines
of Pendergrass, and a little girl, Mildred.
