Merck-Fannin
A surprise marriage that is of more than ordinary interest to their friends
in Gainesville and throughout the state, was that of Miss Lottie May Merck
of this city to Mr. Harry Fannin of Apalachicola, Fla., which occurred
Monday morning at the First Baptist pastorium, Dr. J. E. Hampton performing
the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. C. S. Merck and is a young woman
of culture of soul and mind, attractive personality and sweetness of disposition,
which womanly characteristics have won for her a host of friends wherever
she is known.
The groom is assistant cashier in the state bank of his city and is also
connected with the steam-ship line with headquarters in Florida.
While the marriage is a great surprise to their many friends, there was
no parental objection to the match, the happy couple simply preferring
a quiet, unostentatious union that will carry with it a sweet solemnity
that should characterize the uniting of two souls that were thus happily
blended.
Mr. And Mrs. Fannin left on the afternoon train for Apalachicola, their
present home.
