On Eagles' WingsIntroduction and Table of ContentsOn Eagles Wings is a 60 plus page book that my grandmother, Dorothy Wing Weis Swofford, wrote about her struggle with alcoholism; this book was written when she was 47, long before I was born. I am the youngest daughter of Bobby Ann Weis Land, shown below. On Eagles Wings is full of stories of Apalachicola, Nicaragua, and descriptions of family members and vignettes of life on the Gulf Coast. If you would like a copy of the complete file electronically, please e-mail me. I have changed none of the content of this book, although my mother, Barbara Ann Weis Land, my "Aunt" Gretchen Nelson Vann, and I did alter some minor punctuation for readability and insert relevant pictures. You may see notes from me, to indicate where things were handwritten on the pages. This was so interesting to me that I transcribed it in two sittings without even realizing how long the book actually is. As my spell checker kept catching repeated phrases, such as "many many" or "very very" I felt like I was speaking with Nama; she definitely wrote the way she spoke. These files were transcribed from an original typewritten manuscript with notes in Nama's handwriting.
